Psychotherapy

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a combination of evidence based therapeutic approaches which include, but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Compassion‑focused and mindfulness‑based strategies

  • Strengths‑based and person‑centred counselling

  • Simple, optional art‑based reflection for deeper insight

  • Psychoeducation

I work from a person- centred perspective, working collaboratively with you to explore your thoughts, emotions and life experiences allowing space to develop greater insight, clarity and practical skills for everyday wellbeing.

How Psychotherapy Helps

People seek psychotherapy for many reasons—sometimes during periods of stress or transition, and sometimes simply to grow, reflect, or reconnect with themselves. Therapy can support you to:

  • Reduce anxiety, overwhelm, or persistent low mood

  • Process grief, loss, or major life changes

  • Strengthen emotional resilience and coping skills

  • Improve relationships and communication

  • Understand unhelpful patterns and develop healthier ones

  • Build confidence, self‑compassion, and a sense of direction

What Sessions Are Like

Sessions are gentle, collaborative, and paced around your comfort. You can expect:

  • A supportive, non‑judgmental environment

  • Space to talk openly about what’s happening in your life

  • Exploration of thoughts, feelings, and patterns

  • Practical tools you can use between sessions

  • Optional creative or reflective processes if they suit you

Every person’s experience is unique. I tailor make my approach to best meet your needs around where you are currently at.

How Long Does Therapy Take?

Sessions are typically 50–60 minutes. Some people benefit from short‑term support, while others prefer ongoing work. We’ll discuss what feels right for you and adjust as your needs evolve.
